I also have a small power strip, which means that I can use one adaptor and have 3 plugs to use. I wanted to pick up a couple your tips:
Make sure your bug spray will help to protect you from Dengue fever. A trip to your travel doctor is a must, and pick up a travel first aid kit. I lugged mine around and never needed it, but I had no problem carrying. Preferred the weight vs. being so sick I couldn't catch a flight, or worse.

Cash, cash, cash. I didn't do enough research, or the information wasn't out there.
In both places, although using local currency was fine, Euro or US dollars was also acceptable in many places. Also make sure you have that in small denominations. I wish I had lots of 1 Euro or US$ as it would have just made things much easier.

A note to anyone who visits villages: if you are going to give someone money, make sure it is local currency. We had a guy in a village come up to our guide with some US$ asking what it was. He had no real easy way to exchange it and was kind of useless to him.

Do your research on local customs.
How to greet people
What is acceptable with male/female interactions?
Do stall holders barter when selling their goods?
And even if you find info online, check when you are there; was your information correct or out of date?
Look into the history of where you are going. It may just make your interactions that bit more meaningful when you connect with a local.

Be safe and have a great journey.Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03955518915468137729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8868870213262223933.post-53482949061991683302017-01-03T18:55:31.469-08:002017-01-03T18:55:31.469-08:00Great timing for this post - we're in the mids...Great timing for this post - we're in the midst of planning our safari for April!
