More drone fun - A short video flying over the California coastline and lighthouse at Pigeon Point

On Tuesday, I was helping to direct an upcoming video for Lexar. As part of this video, we needed to shoot some drone footage. My buddy, Kelly, thought that the lighthouse at Pigeon Point (in Northern California) would make for a good shooting location. So we hopped in the car and drove to the coast to get some shots.

First, Kelly was shooting video of me being the photographer, using my DSLR and drone. And since I had my Canon 5D Mark III with the new 100-400mm lens, I took advantage of the opportunity and took some real photos in between all the takes and retakes (using my Lexar Professional 128GB 1066x CompactFlash card of course).  The photo below is one of my favorites, when the sun happened to break through the clouds and give us some nice light.

After taking the shots of me with the DSLR, it was time for Kelly to photograph the DJI Inspire, while I was flying the drone in and out of the scene. But we also wanted to capture some drone footage on the Lexar 633x microSD card to include in the video, so I got a chance to have some fun and shoot videos and stills from my Inspire 1.

I put together a couple of my favorite clips here in this 90 second piece. This is just another example of how magical these aerial cameras really are. You can view it by clicking HERE or clicking on the picture below.

(And since this was shot in 4k, remember to change the quality to 1080p to get the best resolution.)

I hope you enjoy the video!
