We all made it to Africa. The photo attendees are from all over the U.S, including the East Coast, Midwest and I think I am the only person who traveled from the West Coast. It took me about 37 hours to get from my house in California to the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia.
Most of the group is here now, with a couple more coming in soon.
I have not slept much over the last 48 hours, but am pushing to stay up for another 4 hours to get time adjusted. In order to keep myself awake, I just went for a quick walk with my Canon 5D Mark IV and 24-105mm lens to see if there was anything interesting to photograph here in Winhoek.
There were two buildings which grabbed my attention.
There is this modern government building with a statue of Dr. Sam Nujova (the founding president of the country). I walked up close to the statue and shot from a low position to give you this view.
The other building was the Christ Church, which was built back in 1907. I walked around taking photos of the church but did not like the composition. It was not until I walked down the street behind the church that I found this wall and foliage to help complete the image.
Tomorrow is the official start of our adventure here in Namibia, and we are all excited!
