Olympics in Milan: Good action and reactions at Pairs Figure Skating

I have been shooting and moving around so much that I am running behind on my blog posts. Sleep is a luxury not afforded at the Olympics, with me getting to sleep at 3am and back shooting this morning. So I am sitting here shooting short track speed skating, and while they cut the ice, I am back at it. In this blog post, I am going to share some images from the pairs figure skating portion of the team competition from the other night.

Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea were simply awesome on the ice as they completed all their difficult moves. I caught this high throw in the air.

I positioned myself high (right in front of the NBC people) to capture the action with the logo in frame. Even though I liked photographing the skaters in all parts of the ice, I preferred when they were in the logo. If I shoot images of them with only the white ice (like the previous image), you don't know that the photo was taken at the Olympics.

I would intentionally wait for them to be by the rings...

...but that does not mean that I would not shoot at these times.

This was the reaction at the end of the performance which was priceless, and I was VERY happy that they ended facing my direction, showing this emotion.

The rest of the time I photographed the other skaters, just looking for interesting images.

As always, focusing on the logo...

...the big throws...

... and anything different.

The Japanese were really strong this year, and ended with their own emotional celebration.

Next up I will post the women's and men's individual performances.

Please excuse any typos. Normally I try to proof read everything before I post, but here at the Olympics, time is a commodity. I definitely miss some things. :)
